Whether you're flyfishing for trout, salmon or saltwater species, you'll find a reel in our collection that's made for you.
Our reels cover the entire spectrum of flyfishing and are produced in many different sizes to carry lines suited to freshwater or saltwater species. To narrow down your choice all you need do is consider the environment you'll be fishing and the AFTM rating of the rod that you'll be using.
Where are you going to fish?
Any Hardy reel will give you years of trouble free performance in freshwater, but some are also deep anodised for complete corrosion resistance in a saltwater environment. If you're likely to fish for permit, tarpon or bonefish, choose a saltwater protected reel, such as the Sirrus Allwater or the Zane.
Reel size
Each Hardy reel is designed to be loaded with a fly line of a specific weight, which in turn should correspond to the AFTM markings on your rod for optimum line shoot. Match reel, rod and line together and you'll have a perfectly balanced outfit.
Disc or click check
Choosing between a disc drag and click check reel is a matter of personal preference. With the disc drag system you can speedily apply braking pressure, and most reels can be set for silent or audible operation. Click check reels have a traditional compensating check, that can be regulated to slow the outgoing line.
Most reels are easy to change from right to left hand use, and spare spools are available as required.
